TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE
HUMAN-WILDLIFE COEXISTENCE

OUR APPROACH

Generating impact through inspiration and innovation by bringing together diverse teams across three dimensions:

INTER
NATIONAL

We collaborate with scientists all over the world, particularly with African academics. Diverse perspectives and knowledge boost our scientific understanding and provide the building blocks towards novel solutions.

iNTER
SECTORAL

With strong societal links we connect with local communities, government authorities, NGOs and companies throughout the entire research process, from start to end, ensuring our research aligns with societal needs.

iNTER
DISCIPLINARY

Biodiversity loss, food security, health and safety are complex issues that require input from diverse backgrounds. We work with governance researchers, anthropologists, and economists to complement our ecological expertise.

OUR THEMES

Healthy Landscapes

Combatting the spread of invasive plants to restore our most threatened landscapes

Biodiversity Determinants

Unraveling the fundamental drivers of species coexistence in biodiversity hotspots

Human Wildlife Coexistence

Evidence-based solutions to reduce conflict, protecting the wellbeing of people and wildlife

why it matters

Biodiversity is disappearing at unprecedented rates. Ecosystems are degrading. Human-wildlife conflict is on the rise. Invasive species are spreading. This has huge consequences for our food security, health, and safety.

But there is hope, because nature can be extremely resilient. Our research contributes to restoring healthy and safe landscapes to benefit both people and wildlife in areas where it matters most.
